All-round master of unearthly sound experiments Kimmo Rapatti aka Mono Junk will be releasing his second single on the Canadian Forbidden Planet imprint in a few weeks from now.

Fans of his earlier works will be pleased to see a remix surfacing of the stone cold classic “Channel B”, which was originally released 20 years ago on the German Trope label. As the title indicates this is a tribute to the Basic Channel label with those crisp signature chords that many have tried to reproduce over the years. On the new interpretation Mono Junk has teamed up with Roberto Bosco and the result is overly convincing. The remix possesses a more melody-based nature and by doing so, it departs invigorated from the stringent Dub Techno recipe, which has been raped to death for 20+ years now.

If we head to the beginning of this release “Prince Of The Night” is a impetuous Techno stomper with a distinctive synth lead and a coarse sounding vocal element, both relentlessly propellering the track forward.

“Suomen Moroderirt Theme” is another tribute at stake here and is obviously aimed at Giorgio Moroder synthetic Disco magic from the late 70’s/80’s. The bassline instantly gives my associations to My Mine’s “Hypnotic Tango” classic from 1983. Updated Italo Disco as it should be; sans cheesy out of tune vocals.

Finally “Maaliskuu” is that victorious reference to early Detroit Techno with glorious strings and cracking, down-pitched claps that will satisfy any lover of said genre to the fullest.

Want to experience the real deal? Then head to Click Festival 2015 in Elsinore on May 16th, where Mono Junk will make a triumphant return to Denmark 21 years after his first international performance at Club Mantra.
