Bay Area mogul and flambostant provider of high caliber lyrics, has finally released his long-awaited double album “Sharp On All Corners”,

As always the production is totally on point and with the extensive network and reputation Earl Stevens has build up over more than 20 years, you know he’ll cherrypick the rappers chosen for guest appearances.

Over 28 tracks, 40 and friends present the many shades of modern Bay Area music and so, the chosen few include Cousin Fik, B-Legit, Turf Talk, Kirko Bangz, Mack 10, Willie Joe, Too $hort, Dej, Luigi The Singer, Ludacris, Plies and many more.
As usual E-40’s lyrical universe orbits around stories from the neighbourhood, parties and family life. It’s actually rather honest compared to a lot of the stereotypical tales usually found in a lot Hip Hop and more importantly so, it’s delivered with wit and unruffledness. It takes confidence in oneself to do a tasteful cover of Chic’s “I Want Your Love”, but E-40 deftly works his way around it and comes up with one of the best tracks of the double album.

Altogether I see “Sharp On All Corners 1 & 2” as a very good musical distillate of the six “The Block Brochure: Welcome To The Soil” volumes with a health variety of Mob, Function and R’n’B-tinged references.
