More than 25 independent and micro publishers from all of Northern Europe meet in a supermarket in Copenhagen to sell books, meet their audience IRL and to share ideas and strategies with each other.

The isles of the supermarket act as a visual and conceptual backdrop as the art books are sold alongside everyday groceries to bibliophiles and the unexpecting shopper alike.

The goal is to elevate the level, number and quality of art books coming from the Nordic countries by hosting an event where the players in the field can meet, connect and share ideas and perspectives on current issues in the frame of publishing.

Troy lovegates is a nomadic folk artist that paints stories of way finders and lost stories told around bonfires ..This art show is a compilation of paintings made over a grumpy grey winter in Toronto , turbulent drawings during cross America train excursions, night buses to Detroit and chicago, and a geriatric transatlantic 14 day cruise …. As reference material numerous homeless people’s souls were captured in alleyways or sleeping on park benches in buenos aires ,Bucharest , Berlin , Barcelona and any other cities you can think of that start with a B … The old wood and frames were scavenged in abandoned buildings during long winter walks or longer summer bike rides … All this is really just a storyline and composition of wandering and exploring outdoors…dragged inside and fancied up to be gazed upon.. Enjoy

Possibly the best cuisine of all time is a bowl of Phở, the classic Vietnamese dish that has become increasingly popular around the world. I personally think it’s the best food to match the goodness of Sriracha. So when my homie at my local Phở spot in Nørrebro told me about the  Phở challenge I was immediately intrigued.

French artist and fashion designer Maripol directed a new Web documentary about her friend Keith Haring. There are currently three Haring exhibitions in Paris right now, taking place at theMuseé D’Art Moderne, 104, and Colette. -boingboing

The first of April 2007, on the very early morning, Thomas Mailaender dropped an ultrarealistic reproduction of a giant mussel on the Nice beach and then called the local newspapers.

Nice-Matin lead with: “A polyester monster: one mussel that will be hard to swallow.”

Henrik Haven‘s photo coverage with a bunch of work-in-progress shots from Hyuro’s first eight days working at the huge wall. Next week you can expect to see some shots of the completed mural and show. Boom!

Artist Statement

My work poses the question: how does reality becomes exquisitely animated by certain social control systems such as politics, mass media, technology, science, and etc. It is my artistic goal to reveal how human beings are fragile and delicate in these social environments. By living in Korea, Japan and the U.S, I have first-hand experience in diverse social systems and have come to view my life experiences as raw material for my research. With my research in mind, my art utilizes the body as the tool for an intensive investigation of the public and private; examining the relationship between how people understand their body and how this understanding represents themselves in the greater context.
Currently, I am curious about human perception developing parallel with the ever-evolving progression of technological world. Thus, I question technology’s relationship to reality and illusion; asking what is reality? My work takes advantage of illusion to explore and answer this question, and often my artistic materials consist of the body and mirrors. I use mirrors for integrating reality and illusion. I cut, I extend, I distort, I reconstruct, and I fragment the body to create a chaotic image of a human.

Biography

Yoon is an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Yoon participated in the fellowship programs at the Kyoto University of Art and Design in Japan and the Center for Emerging Visual Artists in Philadelphia. He has exhibited his works in Renwick Gallery, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Brattleboro Museum, Hunter College, and Chungju International Craft Biennale in Korea. His work is in the collection at Smithsonian American Art Museum, and West Collection.
