I think it was the final storm clouds late Saturday night that did it. I couldn’t take any more. I was done. Roskilde had sapped me dry and I had nothing left to give. I have a suspicion that it might be age, but then again I have never really been a festival kind of dude. The sight of a wet tent fills me with dread and hoards of sweaty kids covered in mud makes me feel uneasy. Too many people drunk and hammered in one place can be a worrying thing to see. This was my sixth year taking photos at Roskilde and I guess I got to the stage where I thought I’d seen it all before – beer bongs, mud, tits & asses, ladidadida. Iron Maiden weren’t down for interviews this year so we took to the moshpit queue to get a taste of what the fanswould ask given the opportunity to pop 1 question.
For some reason I can smell the presence of the dark prince at Roskilde this year; I can sense the dark bastard. Perhaps it is the proliferation of metal bands this year, or maybe the dark clouds that seem to hover over us, throwing rain and all sorts of shit at us at the middle hours of the day. Whatever is out there, it sure as hell smells of Satan.
BIE was formed roughly half a year ago. Tuesday they played their live drum and bass music at a completely stuffed Pavillion Junior at Roskilde. I got to follow them before, during and after their concert. August and Daniel includes other artists, amongst vocalists and violinists. Check them out here.
