Yea yea we weren’t even there, but I heard it was a hot event and if it was anything like the combo of events that just swept through Copenhagen then it was a darn shame we missed it. Amsterdam, where’s the love? Plane tickets next time would ya? The same Tampa crew of jokers and fools were entertaining the crowd as always with their abuse and juvenile behaviour – essential to grins and the kids were killing shit left right and centre. This summer, California Skateparks brought The World’s Largest Skateboard to Camp Woodward PA. One afternoon, campers and staff took the enormous skateboard out for a ride. Late in the day, California Skateparks owner, Joe Ciaglia decided to take his creation for a solo ride.

For the fourth year running, Copenhagen Skatepark Association and Royal Copenhagen Skate are proud to present CPH PRO 2010, Europe’s biggest skate contest, where the world’s best pros gather to battle over 400,000 Danish crowns. CPH PRO is located in the freshly redesigned and newly built Copenhagen Skatepark on Enghavevej 80 from the 25th-27th June 2010.

On Wednesday, Thrasher Magazine and Volcom Stone present a mid summer session at Amager Strandpark on Wednesday June 23, 2010. 8,000 Dollars cash will be in the hands of Jake Phelps and given to any man, woman or child who’s got the guts to throw down something worthy of Jake’s cash. So come get some on the Volcom stone ledge, The Double Set, or the treacherous Leap of Doom. It’s the longest day of the year, and we’re gonna burn this witch to the ground!!! Free food, Free beers. Get ready for some mayhem, this ain’t no rave, so leave the glowsticks at home hippy.

Last night, we whipped over to Malmö to check out the premier of Pontus Alv’s newest feat of film-artistry “In Search Of The Miraculous” which was, to put it mildly, a super rad and inspirational view into Pontus and his friends’ (who all rip) perspective on skateboarding, spots and life. When the witching hour struck, it was time to celebrate Pontus’ 30th(?) birthday which was done in grand fashion with cake food fights, body slam people towers, catching up with skate trip crew, not much break-dancing, smelly armpits, a few babes and a quick getaway back across the bridge to safety.

Perhaps the winning dream of cyclists everywhere, heritage workwear company Carhartt (or the stylish street wear label, as you please) has teamed up with UK’s bicycle company, Charge, to produce a single/fixed gear bicycle. Ultra power skater, and friendly Swedish neighbour, Pontus Alv is on the verge of releasing his new film In Search of the Miraculous.
It has been five years since Pontus Alv’s last film Strongest of the Strange came out; a raw mix of local spots, killer skating and 8mm film-art. Even before the premier Pontus had already started filming his next project, which is on the doorstep and set to be released in Malmö the 15th of May.

The film is mostly filmed around southern Sweden where Pontus and his crew hang. Since most spots where killed in the first film, a lot of work went into digging deep into the Scanian hummus to search for and create new possibilities. No stone was left unturned in their search for terrain, and quite often the crew were created their own spots with the help of a few litres of concrete in a true DIY manner. When most skaters go to Barcelona and other thirteen-spots-to-the-dozen-cities to film their parts in an environment far from their natural habitat, Pontus, Johan Linö-Waad and Danijel Todorovic have stayed on their home turf. The aim has been to show that it is possible to make things happen anywhere and that lack of spots breeds creativity. Creativity does not just come across in the skating but also in all the DIY spots that popped up as an effect of Strongest of the Strange and as an alternative to the public parks for the masses.

Rumous has it, it’s Pontus’ birthday at midnight so I’m pretty sure it’ll be a good night for all. See you there.

If I leaked the sordid secrets of the last night, I’m sure several people would swiftly have me in a headlock. Slopestyle prize giving at the Storehorn and the ‘drain what remains’ party. We started with gin and tonics, a couple of vodka red bulls and champagne from the bottle. The temptation to take a 500 kroner taxi ‘home’ didn’t lure me as much as the chance to show my skills on the dancefloor while Frederik got naked and jumped off the balcony, only to seriously sprain his ankle.

I drunkenly interviewed Simon Houlind about things I know nothing of, like 1080 spins and sevens being safe. Peep issue 11 for the goods. While the names were being dropped for who won what, I started to spin out and had to take 10 minutes of quiet time to re-gather my shit. I’m pretty sure Cap P won the boys division and Maria stole the girls medal. Either way, they were ripping more than the others and I’d have more details had we not been booted out of our apartment (effective immediately) during the finals. But hey, who knows? I might have already written about it in the last post.

The next day started out very confusingly, waking on a snapped couch, hitching and walking for an hour and a half, only to find that everyone was back where I started. We had 12 hours to wait for the bus so we took a walk.

Well, yesterday we promised pics but we fucken lied didn’t we? Ok, we have a few. But they’re crap.

Today was the ‘Slopestyle’ which is what I’ve been looking forward to checking out all week to see the likes of Michael Damgaard, Cap P, Simon Houlind, NEP and the mystery backside 720 guy ram the monster kicker backwards. Firstly, it was freaking freezing today. Not even 7 burned hotdogs could ease the pain in my pinkies; and secondly, the course was desperately lacking in jib obstacles, much to the distaste of the majority of riders. The Grongs were outright confused about it and to be honest, there are tons of the kids who destroy rails and boxes on the real and to exclude these essential obstacles was a real disappointment. That aside, the dejlig Danes adapted to what was laid out and even chucked some dead chicken at the BBQ to celebrate.

The park was bulletproof to start with, and bulletproof when I got swiftly sent down to the apartment 4 hours later to hastily “pack your shit and get out”. We’d apparently overstayed our welcome. So I didn’t get to see the last run of the men’s which sucks an egg cos the boys truly were fighting it out.

As I write, we’re none-the-wiser regarding podium placements but I can supply a few not very detailed deets about what got thrown down.

Cap P: Cab5 > HUGE back 3 mute over the whale > fs7 > his signature switch backside five hundred and forty degree rotation to forwards on the HOLY FUCK kicker.

Simon Houlind: Switch back 5 > Backflip revert thingee > front 7 > corked back 5. Bigger than you. Cleaner than you. Just give up.

That’s all I remember. It was freezing. We got booted out of our apartment but at least we moved into the pimp world famous grass-roofed place a little further up the hill where there were countless bottles of bubbles, beer and Farmor’s homemade kanelsnegl. Booyaka shiggydiggy bow wow sukkas! And Shawn White apparently slept on the couch I’m sitting on. That explains why I’m naked. The closest I can get baby.

This may the the last post I can be bothered to hit you with from this trip so a couple of props go out to my roomies (Thanks for holding my hair out of my face while I was vomiting and the intense all-night monopoly scrabble bongo sessions – nah for real: even though we were isolated in our pimp-ass slopeside crib, it couldn’t have been a more random and fresh crew of weirdo’s and champions). (Jeg har jeres hue, men I har min hjerte) Thanks to Hove and Nuga for hooking this up (you’ve got my number for next year), Hemsedal Ski Sentre for making the jumps forgiving, and Mother Nature for being a totally delicious hottie. Dammit, I got a semi. Lastly but super long from least – Louise for being the best ever blog chick and sne buddy for the trip.
