Do you sometimes wonder if “this shit” only happens to you? Do you miss summer and listening to The Cure’s “Friday, I’m In Love”? Then do yourself a favour and tune into the new single “Millennial Me” by DIET.

The Danish quartet appeared on the scene in 2015 with “1994”. The slow and melancholic synth-driven instrumental was backed by youthful vocals and all was covered in a shoegaze/post-punk wrapping. Four singles later, the Odense-based band is coming up with a new song and quite a new sound as well.

“Millennial Me” picks up the pace and gets us ready for summer festivals. The opening tones are simple, yet incredibly colorful – reminding Virgin Suicide, another upcoming Danish band. The lyrics do justice to the song title, vaguely describing a dysfunctional teenage romance. Adding an indie pop-rock vibe to their sound results in a very warm and welcoming song.

So while things might not be looking up for the teenager they are singing about, DIET themselves are in a bright place. They will be releasing new material soon and they are also once again supporting Foxing. A year after their show in Huset, the two bands meet again this Friday in Ideal Bar. Tickets for the show are still available.
