Retro Rip Report #1

Dick came to me with this idea of doing a weekly post where I dig into the skateboard archives and find some old gems. I’m going to try to do this every Monday so I hope you guys are down with the shit that inspired me as a skate kid growing up. In this modern day of insanely technical and progressive skateboarding, like all this Street League shizz, it’s good to take a step back and look at some of the OG parts that make skateboarding so awesome. First up we have Wade Speyer from Think Skateboards video “Dedication” dating all the way back to 1998.

This whole video is awesome and was one of the videos that got me pumped to skate back in the day. It includes parts from Dan Drehobl, Diego Bucchieri, Phil Shao (RIP), and Tim McKenney to name a few. I really like Speyers part from this video because of the way he skates that ramp with the spine in the middle. You gotta love the way he attacks it. His last trick over the haystack was at a Skateworks demo which was one of my more epic skate memories.

You got any suggestions for me ? Send me an email: <scooper@bitchslapmag.com>

Scott is from San Francisco, he paints, draws, writes, edits, cuts out beer tickets and uses them at the bar. He is good at all of those things.
