I first picked up Swiss art mag, Amateur Magazine in Berlin after Bright Tradeshow. It had all the makings of a DIY project done well, exquisite graphic design and illustration and a bunch of art that didn’t offend me. Well researched interviews with people I actually want to read about and more pretty pictures and tidy design. Good taste all round. I’m no fucking critic but I’m impressed, ok?
Fast forward 12 months and I’m sitting in Zurich (headed for Laax and the BEO) together with Lain, the creator of Amateur. It all feels a little weird because we both like each other’s shit so much, but what ensues is a few emails and this article. Now we stand in debt. Thanks for the coverage Lain, and thanks for producing a super radical art magazine.
