I love pretending to be a teenager and filling an empty bottle of Urge! with vodka, some apple juice, sprite and of course Urge! just to make sure we’ve got enough to drink on the 25 minute walk from the apartment to the ‘city’ and to make sure we’re wasted enough for the wild party – which was wild. There were about 10 of us. Being wild. And buying wildly expensive beers. And talking to the wild German butcher. And wildly sharing cigarettes because they’re wildly expensive. You get the picture. Wild. But we did get pissed and have a good laugh and that’s what’s important right?
After a big breakfast we made it up the hill around 11.30, just in time for the ice to turn into delicious slush. Today was the boardercross which I mostly prefer to call BoarderX to emphasise the extreme nature of the sport. I’m no big fan but everyone who raced actually seemed to be well into it and have a pretty good day. Danish Olympic hopeful Julie Lundholt cleanly took the ladies out while NEP took the mens gold by the skin of his teeth after Frederik Conradsen and Simon Houlind (at that stage respectively 2nd and 3rd) tangled edges on the last hump giving room for Nicky NoName to grab second place.
